Many decades ago I came across a recipe for a honey nut top cake. It was in a 1972 Family Circle magazine. I lost that magazine at some stage and the recipe along with it.
I’ve searched market stalls for years, buying bundles of old magazines that looked promising, op shops galore and in recent years searched the internet on the hunt for this elusive recipe.
All this to no avail. However, this week I came across a recipe for the cake (pictured fresh out the oven) – in a very old cookbook.
It’s not the same one, as the topping is baked with the cake (upside down style) and the batter includes crushed pineapple, spices and sour cream, but the end result is pretty pleasing nevertheless.
However, if anyone does have that old original Family Circle recipe for the honey nut top cake, I’d be mighty grateful to have it again.
Damm……..can’t help you Sally but if ever you find it again I would like a copy !!!!!!!!!
Cheers Roscoe
PS : I will ask my mum
