Wild Weather Baking

Due to the wild weather today, the power was out for several hours this morning, and then again for a shorter time this afternoon.

It didn’t matter though. The. Gourmet Cooker wood heater was burning brightly since the crack of dawn. I was still able to bake sausage rolls in its oven, which it did very well.

I made more little savoury nettle tarts too – doubling the nettle content this time.

A cuppa was no issue either with the kettle always on the simmer on its stovetop.

These were all able to be ready when friends came to visit.

Oh yes and of course the house has been toasty warm despite the howling wind and torrential rain outside.

Good place to live in this little part of the Derwent Valley.

Nettle tarts prepared and waiting their turn in the oven. Note the sodden ground in front of the verandah
