Green tomatoes – how I love them! A gift of several kilos from a friend yesterday. Both the ones I bought last Saturday week and this lot were found on a stall at the New Norfolk market.
It means a large batch of green tomato chutney is in the making, just brining at the moment as seen here.
Two batches of pickled green tomato slices are also brining.
There are 3 large tomatoes left, these I will slice, coat in egg and breadcrumbs, then saute in olive oil to serve as a side dish with dinner this evening.
A large batch of quince jelly has just been bottled. It was all hands, actually jars, to the plough in an effort to find enough for the purpose.
The same will happen with the green tomato products I guess, though I do have quite a few larger jars. All good though, we always find a way.
