It’s been a cold and frosty winter, foggy too. Personally I love it, but the vegetable garden not so much.
Not a lot survived but now some struggling silver beet and spinach plants are coming back, and broad beans are beginning to yield.
Herbs survived – even parsley, and certainly rosemary and thyme.
So at the weekend I was able to utilise them in Turkish breads and focaccia to accompany soups I’d made for some hard workers here.
More went into some steamed pork buns.
Even the avid vegetable avoiders amongst us pronounced them very good. Lovely to finally be able to use our own fresh produce again, albeit scant so far.
