Slightly upscaled lunch at the usual shopping day picnic spot.
It was a simple thing to fill an additional thermos with hot soup and bake a little focaccia in the wood stove before we left.
It was certainly a bit too chilly to sit at the waterfront tables at Cornelian Bay, but in the car was perfectly fine, and the soup was the perfect antidote to the swirling drizzle outside.
Speaking of before we left, I baked a cake to drop off to a group of friends at Cambridge.
It’s been a while since I’ve made a marble cake. This time the pink component was coloured and flavoured with a little of the blackcurrant cordial I made yesterday, and the plain cake batter flavoured with lemon zest.
The whipped ganache topping’s flavour was enhanced with a spoonful of blackcurrant jelly. Sure hope they liked it!
