Apricot Hunt 2023

The apricot hunt today went extremely well. Excellent quality and lovely friendly people at Lowdina Orchards (both staff and other customers alike). It was great to talk with other jam makers and preservers.

I bought 40kg for us (including 5kg jam quality, 35 kilos second grade for bottling), as well as 5kg for a neighbour and 10kg for a friend who is coming here to learn how to preserve them tomorrow.

Btw – the ice creams at Lowdina – exceptionally delicious. A double scoop cone (one cherry ice cream, one scoop apricot) cost a mere $5 – made from the fruits of their orchards.

Smoothies too – so good!

It’s no use, I’ll never be lean! Who can resist the fruits of the season of such exceptional quality. Not I.

Incidentally the ones in the box I’ve opened – these are jam quality, yet almost perfect nevertheless. The rest, second grade, are even better. Bliss.

Oh Sally sounds Devine, 1/4 & I would have been in heaven. We come from Victoria & are down here visiting your beautiful state. Is that Orchard open to the public?.
