More quinces on the agenda today. Friends Michael and Roberto also came to preserve their harvest of quinces and apples.
Another friend very kindly lent us their electric preserving unit so we were up to a full complement of three.
Preserving alone is productive and rewarding, but preserving with friends is the best fun.
The time spent in preparation of produce goes fast, there’s lots of time to chat and plenty of opportunity to bake small (and larger) treats to emjoy along the way.
The old wood fired slow combustion stove is simply the best for baking and its heat is much appreciated on a frosty, foggy day such as this.
Incidentally, this preserving together is becoming quite a habit in the repurposing of the ex cooking school space.
Those of us who so often get together here to preserve have decided we will from here on in call ourselves the Derwent Valley Preservers Circle!

And how do I get to become a member Sally ? Or is this an exclusive gathering only lol
