Too pink do you think? This platter of mini iced vovos, jelly cakes and mini Victoria sponges were on their way to the Custard Club’s morning tea. They didn’t seem to mind the profusion of pink at all.
The platter started out as just jelly cakes, but things went awry with the icing for the iced vovos. I accidentally added too much pink colouring, so had to add more icing sugar to try to tone it down a bit.
I ended up with WAY too much icing.
I’d purchased some silicone trays at an op shop recently – to make little bar cakes. So I trialled some buttercake mixture in those, then split and filled them with jam, and iced with some of the pink icing.
And still there was more – I think it was multiplying as I went along.
Finally just now I made a batch of kiss biscuits and spread those with the icing and sprinkles.
Despite there being some still remaining, I’ve had enough of pink for now.
As much as I hate waste, I fear I will have to throw the rest out – maybe feed a little to the chooks in their wet mash but none to Cilla the pig. A pig with toothache would not be a good thing, let alone a vet’s visit to fix it.
