Well, things really have been busy around here. I’m going to put up a couple of posts to make up for lost time – by the end you will see why I entitled this the good, the bad and the downright ugly.
The good thing about this busy time is the happy fact that there’s a mountain of preserving to be done, great fun with cooking classes and the lovely people who come along. There’s been bottling classes and preserves with another tomorrow.
Last weekend there was a sausage making class, conducted by our Stephanie ad her husband Nat. Yum. Didn’t think to take photos at the time (stephanie may do so later) – best I can do is show the spelt rolls I made for morning tea, topped with a slice of home-cured bacon.
Actually, they ended up being for ‘lunch’, filled with more bacon, fresh-laid eggs and a dash of raspberry chilli sauce, which I’m told is called a Gypsy Roll. Simple fare maybe, but it tasted pretty fine. Washed down with a glass of Robert’s beer certainly didn’t go astray.
