Molesworth Spring

Spring comes a little later here at the end of this little valley. here’s the first of the spring bulbs just beginning to show their faces.

The possums have moved onto the property en masse it seems. We’ve tried loose chicken wire, electric fences and Christmas lights as deterrents but nothing has really worked, at least not for any length of time.

Inevitably, anything that is not covered over will be part of the wildlife’s smorgasbord.

Hoop houses with netting are therefore on the go.

The netting we bought proved to be a bit too narrow, so Robert has taken up the crochet hook and has thus, using twine, joined the edges of two lengths together.

Desperate times, as they say, call for desperate measures!

(Incidentally, if anyone should be wondering about the cage eggs box – it only contains empty spirits bottles given to us by friends. They stand in readiness for storing the liqueurs we will make from next season’s fresh fruit from the garden).
